How Affiliating Helped My Patients

I’ve thought about my affiliation with 42 North Dental from my perspective as a dentist and from my team’s perspective, but it wasn’t until I was chatting with a friend who asked me “How do patients benefit from your partnership with 42 North Dental?” that I began to think about it from a patient’s perspective. This friend is a thoughtful person, a professor, so I wanted to answer the question well. As I thought about it, I reflected back on the elements of this unique partnership and how each has benefitted my patients, and my practice, and me.  

FULLY REALIZED PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
After some thinking, realized one of the most important benefits to patients is that my practice philosophy was fully realizeand can now truly focus on what I love to do, which is provide dentistry. I am able to devote more time to my patients and my team and focus on continuing education to increase our knowledge and provide leading edge dental care.  

MORE RELAXED, FEWER DISTRACTIONS
Perhaps the biggest benefit for patients, and myself, is that I’m more relaxed, have fewer distractions, and get more enjoyment out of what I do because of it. I think when a dentist is happy, can practice their craft with their own techniqueand can focus more, patients receive a better overall experience and care from their provider. My partnership with 42 North Dental allows me to do all of this 

INCREASED ACCESS TO CARE AND ADDED INSURANCE CARRIERS
Access to care is another huge benefit for patients. Because of the resources that 42 North Dental brought to my practice through staffing and recruiting, I was able to expand the practice hours allowing more patients to receive care. We were also able to participate in more insurance plans and see a new population of patients that we wouldn’t have been able to see before. Having access to high quality dental care is extremely important since we all know oral health has a direct relationship to overall health, and I believe health is the most important thing we have. 

SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS
As our conversation continued, I talked about how being part of a large network allows for cost savings which patients benefit from. 42 North Dental has buying power that a single small business could never match including supplies and employee benefits. By saving on the back end, we’re able to pass that along to patients on the front end.  

BETTER FOCUS, LESS WORRY
Before my partnership with 42 North Dental, I regularly found myself spending a lot of time researching legal matters, labor laws, and keeping up on other changes in the industry and job market. Also, annually, the process of reviewing employee benefits was daunting and quite frankly, out of my reach. These are aspects of running my practice that I didn’t enjoy, but they were necessary and required my time and energy. I know that my employees are getting support in these areas from the team of subject area experts at 42 North Dental. With those tasks behind me, I’m able to be present in the moment chairside with my patients and focus on the task at hand, rather than thinking about all the business tasks I need to accomplish before the end of my day.  

WHAT BENEFITS THE PROVIDER, BENEFITS THE PATIENT
I would say that every element of my partnership with 42 North Dental has benefitted my patients and their overall care. I’m able to provide a better patient experience and know that when I’m done seeing patients, my workday is over. Gone are the days of ending my patient schedule then turning to the business aspects of my practices. When it comes to 42 North Dental, what benefits the providers and practice truly does benefit the patient
